Our Story

Our Story

Since the early 90’s we have worked with education, conservation, and scientific research, and since then, we have realized the potential forests have for social transformation. We have identified that forests and sustainable land management can contribute to human and social development through diverse educational methodologies.

This is why at the beginning of 2017 we got together with 7 private and community-based Forest Schools located in the Andean Choco’s territory, north-west of Ecuador, and created The Andean Choco’s Forest School Network (Red BESCHOCÓ).

MISSION

Transform society through place-based and experiential education in the forests of the Andean Chocó

VISION

That people of all ages reconnect with nature through educational experiences that promote conservation and a sustainable co-existence among all living beings on earth

OBJECTIVES

Influence local education in the Andean Choco’s territory, and

Strengthen the territorial identity of the Andean Choco’s people, through knowledge of their own wealth, as well as their natural and cultural diversity

Branches and Structure

The Andean Choco’s Forest School Network is divided into 3 branches that correspond to the ecosystem where each Forest School is located. If you want to see maps and know more about the Andean Choco’s bioregion
